JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University is accepting applications for a full-time Institutional Research Programmer and Process Analyst. This programming and data professional will join an experienced team, and they will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of data elements within Penn State’s ERP systems, then using SQL and other tools to extract data for use by others. The IR Programmer and Process Analyst will also respond to ad hoc requests from a variety of clients across campus and collaborate on projects related to institutional data. This position will work closely with colleagues from across the institution by serving on committees, collecting data, and developing dashboards and written reports.

Areas of focus may include course progression, DEI variable tracking, predictive analytics, AAUDE participation, global rankings reporting, and other emerging areas of need. This position will frequently interact with planning and administrative units in providing data support.

Successful candidates will possess strong skills in the following areas:

Operating as a subject matter expert to identify, analyze, and address institutional problems

Technical aptitude and demonstrated experience in SQL and data visualization

Familiarity with basic statistical concepts

Collaborative problem solving

Analyzing data from various systems, then creating reports and recommendations for management

Ability to explore questions and develop new skills

Demonstrated experience writing and presenting results of projects

Penn State is rebuilding its institutional research function to reach out collaboratively to other institutional units, and we seek data analysts with experience in complex systems. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate SQL skills. Remote Status: This position may be partially remote. On-campus visits are required throughout the year, and the on-site schedule for the position will be negotiated with the selected candidate.

Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus four (4) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
