Job Title: Intellectual Property Legal Counsel
Job Location: Fort Worth, TX
Summary of Position:
Alcon is looking to hire an Intellectual Property Legal Counsel professional within their IP Surgical Franchise in their Fort Worth, TX location. As an Intellectual Property Legal Counselor, one will report to the head of IP for the surgical franchise, joining an existing team of attorneys who support an array of products and technologies related cataract, vit-ret, glaucoma, and refractive surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversight and management of a global portfolio of patents related to ophthalmic devices and materials
Develop and implement strategies for optimizing and maximizing the value of Alcon's IP portfolio
Mining, preparing, and prosecuting patent applications
Advising internal clients, including senior management, on patentability, enforcement, validity, freedom-to-operate, and IP strategy
Identifying and managing IP opportunities and risks related to new product development
Leading and supporting IP capture projects, patent committees, and training sessions
Managing and directing outside counsel
Providing legal counsel and support for BD&L, litigation, and ideation activities
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
Member of a state bar in good standing
Registered to practice before the USPTO
Work hours: Full Time-Hybrid
