The opportunity:

The Legal Department Office Manager is responsible for the ongoing leadership and supervision of WestRock's Legal Department Administrative Staff (non-paralegal employees) throughout the US, as well as the smooth functioning of all administrative roles supporting the Legal Department. This role will report to an Associate General Counsel.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Overseeing all stages of employment of Legal Department Administrative Staff, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training and developing, evaluating, compensating, disciplining, and terminating.
  • Overseeing the onboarding needs for all department employees, including office placement, technology setups, systems access, etc.
  • Supervising and coordinating overall administrative activities to support the Legal Department, including management of the legal billing process and execution.Administrative Staff shall retain a dotted-line reporting relationship with the attorneys they support.
  • Working with attorneys and other management to ensure proper and efficient allocation of administrative resources to ensure effective and timely coverage of Department needs.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of office areas and equipment as well as layout, arrangement, and housekeeping of relevant office facilities.
  • Negotiating and completing the purchase of office supplies and furniture, office equipment, etc. for the Legal Department staff, in accordance with company purchasing policies and budgetary restrictions.
  • Participating, as needed, in complex department projects.
  • Planning and coordinating regular Administrative Staff, as well as Department-wide meetings.
  • Ensuring facility compliance for data integrity and confidentiality of assigned files, in coordination with WestRock's records management team.
  • Communicating and collaborating with supervisory and management staff.
  • Implementing new Policies and Procedures as directed by the executive management.
  • Maintaining positive employee relations by encouraging open communication, providing regular feedback, and sharing business information.
  • Planning and coordinating employee recognition programs and events.
  • Serving as a key resource for all Administrative Staff and assisting in the resolution of difficult and complex employment and other issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's Degree or comparable in business administration, administrative services, human resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of Five Years' experience in administrative management, legal department or law firm management, or other proven leadership positions.
  • Fluency in English required, verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple staff with different priorities.
  • Ability to create and edit complex documents in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Access
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for computer and other office systems (e.g., telephone)
  • Ability to identify issues and set/ communicate priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and financial report review skills.
