This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Software Product Verification & Validation Engineer for John Deere Ottumwa Works located in Ottumwa, Iowa, you will lead the planning, development, and execution of software verification and validation activities for mowing products. In addition, you will:

  • Verify and validate customer requirements through field and lab tests
  • Determine critical software features and develop and execute software test plans
  • Establish and track software test metrics (requirements to test case coverage, test case data, test results, defects found, and defect escapes)
  • Lead efforts for software test process improvements within PV&V

What Skills You Need
  • 3 or more years of engineering experience with agricultural or off-road equipment
  • 3 or more years of technical experience relating to design/testing of electrical/software/hydraulic/mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in the use of data acquisition and data analysis tools
  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical/software/mechanical issues
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated skills in the clear communication of technical data and project information
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience setting up, collecting, and interpreting data from data acquisition devices in field or lab test environments for Deere equipment
  • Experience using vehicle serial communications including SAE-J1939 CAN-BUS, Canalyzer, ServiceAdvisor, MTGs and JDLink
  • ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) Certification or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of John Deere PV&V systems: Rally, Vision, NCCA
  • Ability to manage risks effectively in a team environment
Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a related career field
