Partnerships and strategic alliances with large, global companies as well as smaller innovative organizations are an integral part of Optum’s corporate strategy and a cornerstone to delivering value. OptumInsight is supporting this component of the corporate strategy with a growing partnership and business development organization. The SVP, Business Development will drive value creation for Optum in a variety of ways including directly supporting top-line revenue and bottom line growth.
The Business Development leader will work closely with OptumInsight Executive Leadership, 3rd party Partners, External Customers, and Internal Business Partners to: * Define the strategic direction of the OptumInsight partnership organization while working within the direction set by OptumInsight senior management
Cultivate and translate specific partnerships into sales and business growth; and
Drive the creation of inorganic growth strategies through partnerships, alliances and M&A to enter new markets and channels as well as consolidate and leverage Optum scale.
This position plays an integral role in assisting OptumInsight's leadership team in developing, implementing and monitoring its strategic initiatives which will tie directly to global, long-term growth plans and profitability objectives. It is expected they will also provide pre-deal due diligence support for the organization as well as divestiture support as necessary. Strong partnership with the Product leadership teams will be imperative to ensure appropriate solution definition and execution of the stage-gate process.

Collaborates and drive the business development process with the OptumInsight leadership team to stratify, identify and prioritize targets
Partners with key business segment leaders to develop inorganic growth strategies including target identification, pursuit and execution. Develops synergy assumptions and realization plans to support these inorganic growth strategies and transactions
Partners with Corporate Development on the evaluation of new ventures and acquisition targets and supports evaluation and diligence process
Participates in customer acquisition, including cultivation of relationships to enhance and grow new business
Sets and achieve growth targets for the organization and is accountable for deliverables
Analyzes market trends, implications and develops strategies that proactively identify opportunities to partner based on shifts in the healthcare marketplace
Structures and negotiating complex partnership agreements that support Optum’s business goals
Thinks “out of the box” to develop creative ideas, solutions and business solutions based on industry and customer insight
Applies thought leadership to solve problems that are without precedent
Helps create solutions that enhance OptumInsights’s ability to deliver outstanding products and services to clients

15+ years in management, consulting, business development, and/or client relationship management in a highly dynamic environment
Experience in developing and operating a successful partner organization
Financial acumen including experience with financial model and forecast diligence
Proven ability to produce superior results in a relationship-based and financial performance-oriented environment
Background in research and evaluation; proven ability to use data to identify trends, gain insights and drive change
Solid leadership and strategic planning skills demonstrated within a matrix environment
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
